Laoshou Mountain, in south-western China, was quarried for more than 20 years. When the quarrying ceased, so did the dust and the noise. The ugly gash in the mountain remained, however, grayish brown and disturbingly barren. It needed greenery. Quickly!

And what is the secret of instant greenery? Hint: It comes in a spray can
