Reader's Digest magazine sent journalists to cities in 35 countries.  Their mission, which they chose to accept, was to determine which city was the most polite.

The Scotsman – International – New York the politest city in the world? Get outta here!

Americans might find themselves justifiably surprised by this result. This survey may cause us to wonder, "Just how rude is the rest of the world, anyway?"  But New Yorkers can clarify the situation for us. 

Native New Yorker Dan Norman, 36, from East Rockaway, said: "The thing to remember is that New Yorkers are not rude, they are brusque.

Got that?  It's brusque, not rude.
