Worm eggs- scrambled or over easy?

Apparently a certain level of poor hygeine is actually good for your bowels.  Who knew?  Not the denizens of the developed world, where more and more of us (though not me, I’m just trying to help) suffer from inflammatory bowel disease.

I will not bore or disgust you with the symptoms of this disease, but it seems to be limited to industrialized nations.  The medical community blames highly refined foods and excessively good hygeine. Apparently we have pampered our bowels into a state of wussieness by not providing them with sufficient exposure to dirt, bacteria and worms.

Yes, you heard me correctly.  Worms.

So what is the solution proffered by Michigan State University professor Linda Mansfield?  Simple.  Eat worms eggs. Specifically, the eggs of an intestinal parasite called the whipworm.  Stop pampering your bowels and give them a jolt from the school of hard knocks. This should straighten out those  spoiled  bowels (not literally).

Bonus:  The article contains a survey with this question:  Would you eat worm eggs to fix digestive problems?

I wouldn’t be surprised if my fiancée were willing to try something like that to help her with her digestive problems. Unfortunately, since it seems that they are actually a symptom of her fibromyalgia, the whipworms almost certainly wouldn’t help things any.

I am sorry to hear about your fiancee’s difficulties. If she would actually consider swallowing worm eggs, it must be a pretty severe problem.

Oh my. Good thing I read this after dinner. What a unique way of dealing with things.

BTW, any update on your brother, Elzbth?

My brother is leaving Kuwait today, and will be in Mississippi for 5 or 6 days. Thank you for asking.
