Americans on Immigration

CNN has posted the results of their latest poll on the illegal immigration issue.

It's an interesting poll, and I recommend perusing it.  I can, however, summarize it for those of you who hate reading polls.

The majority of the public seems to think it is an important issue, with 31% thinking it is somewhat important, and 57 percent thinking it is very important or the single most important issue.  9% rate it as unimportant.

82% do not think the government is doing enough to control illegal immigration at its borders. 4%  think that the government is doing too much.

The top concern (a bit over 60%) is that illegal immigrants cost too much for services such as health care and education.

It is clear that the majority of Americans are unhappy with the status quo. Promises to have the National Guard engage in repair work and road construction near the border do not seem to have made them happier.
