Preemptive P.C.

Tolerance and respect for other people's point of view is, generally speaking, a good thing.  Normal people do this in a normal fashion. But then there are the others.  The people who are ever on P.C. patrol, always ready to be defensive about being offensive. People who are running amok on a P.C. high.  You know.  Loons.

It seems that the Sea World on the Gold Cost (Australia) was afflicted with a colony of fairy penguins. Although no one at all had ever complained about the name of these birds, an unnamed "someone" who works at the place decided that the zoo should not upset the gay community, even though it showed no sign of being upset.  So the managers took it upon themselves to rename the species.  Using excessive political correctness, but  minimal imagination, they decided upon a new name.  It is. . .ta-daaa. . .little penguin.

The Queensland gay community was unimpressed.  I like Kamahl Fox's  response. "I don't think our community is that sensitive about those things.  If the penguins were called poofter penguins or something more direct then it might be a problem. . ."

Little Penguin (NOT a poofter penguin)

Check it out.  New species of penguin discovered in Queensland Zoo.

Renaming them little penguin when no one from the gay community was offended is just retarded. (Oh, no offense to retarded people…) People are taking being politically correct too seriously.
