Heist note had suspect’s address
RIVERHEAD, N.Y. – Police investigating a bank robbery didn’t have to look far for a suspect: A note passed to the teller announcing the holdup had the robber’s address on the back.
So, allegedly, Charmaine Stein acquired an accomplice, a bank teller named John Muir. She then penned a bank-robbing type of note on a piece of paper she had lying around, robbed the bank, and went on a vacation. Both she and Muir failed to notice the note was written on was on a bulk mail advertisement that had Stein’s address on the back.
You know, it takes money to make money. In this case, going to the corner store and purchasing a ream of paper would have been wise.
Stein, who returned from her vacation last Wednesday, was promptly arrested. Sometimes it is a waste of time to even say, “Duh!”
